West Brom boss Valerien Ismael impressed with Robert Snodgrass attitude
West Brom attacking midfielder Robert Snodgrass is currently working his way towards full fitness, and his attitude has impressed Valerien Ismael.
The 33-year-old has been out of action since the middle of March after undergoing a back operation.
Snodgrass did not feature for the Baggies during pre-season and is not expected to play against Bournemouth on Friday.
Ismael is hoping to count on the Scottish forward as West Brom look to secure promotion, telling the club’s official website: “He is unbelievable. When you see him on the pitch, you would think he was a young player from the academy.
“He has a massive desire to be part of the process. His attitude is great. His mentality is fantastic.
“I think he sets the best example for our young players and our job is to make sure that he gets his full fitness back with consistency.
“We will need him in the season, but at the minute we need to manage him step-by-step to get the confidence in his body.”
The ultimate professional
Snodgrass is yet to kick a ball but is already impressing the new head coach with his attitude, and a lot of Albion players, young and old, could learn a thing or two from him.
He only featured in eight Premier League games after arriving from West Ham United in January, and we need him back as soon as possible.
The veteran attacker has Championship experience from his time at Leeds United, Hull City and Aston Villa, and that should come in handy as we look to secure instant promotion.
Snodgrass will be very eager to show Valerien what he is capable of, and we cannot wait to see him back in action.
Given that he is able to play in central midfield and as a winger, the Scot could have a variety of roles to play in the Frenchman’s 3-4-3 style.
We have not made a lot of signings this summer, but having a reliable player like Snodgrass available is huge for the team.
He is dedicated as they come and always willing to give his best on the pitch every game.
Impressing a boss like Valerien does not come easily, and he is definitely a player we would be keeping an eye on in the new season.
