Matheus Pereira exit from West Brom to be announced today

Al Hilal will announce the signing of West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira today (Friday) after the Brazilian signed a contract with the Saudi Arabian club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Writing via his personal Twitter account in the early hours of Friday morning, the Sky Sports Italy journalist reports that Pereira, 25, had a medical in Paris on Thursday and has now put pen to paper on a five-year deal with Al Hilal.

Pereira effectively forced his way out of The Hawthorns on Monday with an explosive statement in which he challenged Valerien Ismael’s claim that he’s “not committed” to the club and also confirmed his desire to leave.

Remember the good, not the bad

West Brom only do messy break-ups, don’t they?

Saido Berahino, Peter Odemwingie and Craig Dawson come to mind in recent years on how players have tried to force their way out of the club and damaged their reputation among fans.

While many forgive Odemwingie for the way he left due to how brilliant he was for us in front of goal (no one will forget his hat-trick at Molineux), the same cannot be said for Berahino.

However, with Pereira, we feel that the Brazilian should simply be remembered for a magical two seasons he gave us.

West Brom

For a lot of Albion fans who are aged under 40, Pereira is the best player they have seen play for the Baggies.

Whenever he had the ball at the feet, there was the potential for him to do something special and that’s why we loved watching him so much.

Pereira gave us massive moments in the Championship as we won promotion in his debut season at The Hawthorns before joining permanently from Sporting CP and impressing in the Premier League.

Last term, the Brazilian attacker scored 11 goals in 33 top-flight appearances, which is a stunning number for an attacking midfielder playing for a relegated team.

Out of those, two of them came against Wolves in a 3-2 win at Molineux.

That’s enough for him to go down in Albion folklore.

In other West Brom news, Odemwingie has sent a message to Matheus Pereira amid the latest controversy at The Hawthorns.
