Chris Wilder was at West Brom game with Bournemouth as a TV pundit
West Brom kicked off the Championship season with a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last night at the Vitality Stadium, and Chris Wilder was in attendance.
The former Sheffield United manager was strongly linked with replacing Sam Allardyce before the Baggies eventually plumped for Valerien Ismael.
According to The Athletic journalist Steve Madeley, Wilder was present at the game as a TV pundit.
The news website West Brom reporter took to his personal Twitter account to post prior before the clash.
Decent start
Wilder would have been analysing the game from a tactical point of view, and he surely would have fancied his chances of doing better than both managers did.
The reliable Express and Star journalist Joseph Masi reported in June that he was the unanimous choice of West Brom’s board to become the club’s next manager, and was a very popular choice.
However, Baggies owner Guochuan Lai blocked a move due to the strained relationship Wilder had with Sheffield Utd owners.
We have since moved on, and we believe Ismael is the perfect man for the job.
A draw against a tough side like Bournemouth is not a bad way to start the season, and there are so many positives to take away from the game.
But there are 45 games still to go in the division, and we are definitely still going to see a lot of improvements from this team.
West Brom have the potential to become the side to beat in this division, and we are eagerly anticipating the rewards of their continued growth under Ismael.
