Hollywood actor Matthew Marsden hits out at Al Hilal fans over Matheus Pereira’s West Brom exit

Hollywood actor and West Brom fan Matthew Marsden has expressed his disdain for Al Hilal fans after the summer circus over Matheus Pereira.

The Brazilian playmaker finally secured his exit from The Hawthorns on Friday [06/08/21] after constant speculation linking him with a move to the Saudi Arabian club whose supporters commented in their droves on Twitter throughout the saga.

Rambo and Tenet actor Marsden offered his verdict on Al Hilal fans after West Brom announced that the 25-year-old had left.

He wrote on his personal Twitter profile: “Al Hilal. Definitely the worst fans I have ever come across. Completely delusional.”

Modern-day madness

It seems to be in vogue nowadays to absolutely bombard a club’s social profiles and demand for the release of the player your club is pursuing.

It’s a very bizarre fad that has crept into football and the sporting world in general, but that’s where we are. It’s something that looks set to stick around as obsessive fans attach themselves to a player who might be thousands of miles away and disinterested in a move entirely.

As it turned out, Pereira very much was interested in a move to Saudi Arabia and Al Hilal, and their fans got their wish.

There was still an element of a lack of class on their behalf, but it’s not something that is exclusive to that club or sides in that continent – similar episodes occur in England as well, just take a look at Arsenal fans, for example.

Thankfully, the Pereira episode is all but over, with news surrounding him and Albion sure to subside as the season kicks into gear.
