Valerien Ismael happy with West Brom squad – Alan Nixon

Valerien Ismael appears to be happy with what he already has at West Brom this summer.

The Frenchman has worked solely on loan deals so far in the market, but now has money to spend from Matheus Pereira’s exit.

Alan Nixon has cast doubt on any imminent moves though, insisting that the Baggies boss doesn’t look to be in a hurry.

A concerned Albion fan questioned the Sun journalist in the past 24 hours, insisting we could be left short in midfield.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Nixon responded to the question which hasn’t left us feeling very confident.

“Coach seems happy enough with what he has,” he said.

Changes.

This could be a real mistake, with plenty of areas that need adding to in the next three weeks before the deadline.

Ismael clearly has space for another forward, and should Romaine Sawyers join Stoke as expected, the midfield is a real area of concern.

Jake Livermore and Alex Mowatt started the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Friday, and there wasn’t much after them in terms of rotation.

When playing such a demanding high-press system, it is always smart to have strength-in-depth, and we could only name six substitutes last week.

There isn’t an excuse either, the money is on the table after Pereira’s exit, and it simply has to be used.

Things can change very quickly towards the end of any transfer window, and we expect there to be some movement sooner rather than later.
