Chris Davison wants to see Arsenal sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone

Journalist Chris Davison believes that Arsenal should sign West Brom goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.

The Football.London writer claimed on his Twitter account that the 28-year-old would be a “solid option” for the Gunners, although he wants to see them sign Freddie Woodman from Newcastle United.

The Express have linked Arsenal with a move for the England international and could make their move after they decided that Aaron Ramsdale was too expensive [The Athletic].

Will Arsenal sign Johnstone?

The 28-year-old was expected to join West Ham after they made a bid for him earlier in the transfer window, but they decided to sign Alphonse Areola instead.

Since that move broke down, there has been talk that the Baggies were preparing to offer Johnstone a new deal, which would include a release clause [The Athletic].

West Brom

The goalkeeper, who was described as “magnificent” by Sam Allardyce last season, has returned to training with West Brom and could be ready for selection very soon [talkSPORT].

However, it would be interesting to see what would happen if Arsenal did decide that they want to sign Johnstone.
