West Brom deal to sign Daryl Dike likely to be loan-to-buy upon Premier League promotion

West Brom boss Valerien Ismael wants to sign Orlando City striker Daryl Dike but any deal for the USA international is likely to be on a loan-to-buy basis, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper claims that if Albion sign 21-year-old Dike, who impressed on loan at Barnsley in the second half of last season, it is likely to be a loan with an obligation to buy him if the club wins promotion back to the Premier League.

Dike scored nine goals in 22 appearances for Ismael while he was on loan at Barnsley last term.

West Brom

The American Drogba?

If West Brom’s performance against Bournemouth taught us anything it’s that this season is going to be a thrilling one for Albion fans.

It also taught us that if Ismael can get the right striker in before the transfer window closes on August 31 then his attack is going to score goal after goal in the Championship this term.

We saw the Baggies squander a couple of decent chances in their 2-2 draw with the Cherries with Karlan Grant still yet to find his shooting boots with the Black Country club.

Dike was on fire at Barnsley last season as he helped power them to the Championship play-offs with his goals.

But not only did he prove himself in front of goal, he’s also an absolute brute of a striker who any defender in this division will have a hard time deal with.

According to the Express & Star, Dike models himself on Chelsea and Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba.

Dike is said to be a hard-working striker who “is quick, strong and an excellent finisher”.

He sounds perfect, based on that description.

We’d really like to see the American join the Albion this summer and become one of Ismael’s stars in stripes.
