Sam Johnstone booed by Luton fans after collision with Jordan Clark
West Brom secured a 3-2 victory over Luton Town at the Hawthorns in their second game of the new Championship campaign.
It was almost a straightforward victory for Valerien Ismael’s men as they controlled the game from start to finish.
Luton would have been disappointed with the result after their late fight, and they are also sweating over the fitness of Jordan Clark.
The winger collided with Baggies goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the second-half and had to be stretchered off as he was unable to continue action.
Luton fans were unhappy with the incident, and according to Birmingham Mail journalist Joe Chapman, they booed the West Brom goalie afterwards.
He took to his personal Twitter account to post: “Boos for Johnstone from the Luton fans. Not exactly sure why.”
Unforgiving
Luton fans that booed the England international are simply not serious as the collision and what happened afterwards was clearly nobody’s fault.
Johnstone was visibly upset after Clark went done and he immediately beckoned for the medical staff.
While the winger was being treated, the West Brom goalie was eager to check on him, and our fans gave the Luton man a standing ovation when he was taken off.
Their fans could not have asked for more and Johnstone did not deserve the boos.
It did not faze him, though, but that was not a proper way for the visiting supporters to react.
West Brom were class from start to finish despite the late scare, and while we could have scored more, it was an impressive performance from the boys.
Picking up four points from the opening two games of the campaign is commendable, and we have to keep improving going forward.
Automatic promotion is the aim at the end of the season, and this type of performance gives us a lot of hope.
