West Brom man Robert Snodgrass to miss Luton Town match

West Brom man Robert Snodgrass is still not ready for a return to the first team yet, according to Valerien Ismael.

The Baggies boss claimed that the experienced Scotsman wouldn’t be available for selection in West Brom’s first home game of the season [the Birmingham Mail].

Snodgrass joined the Baggies in January this year and has made eight appearances since then, but he hasn’t had the opportunity to add to that this season.

Ismael said: “At the minute he’s not done enough to be involved with us, we need to have the build-up with him.

“Next week, he’ll play a bit longer with the 23s; now we know we have a League Cup game against Arsenal, it’s a chance for us to give him more minutes and more time in that game.

“We have a plan, the next two or three weeks with Snods, and we need to make sure every time he reaches the step we want. At the minute, he’s good, he looks really good, and we work on the next step next week.”

Won’t be seeing Snodgrass yet?

So, it seems as if the 33-year-old is still a little bit away from the first team and given the intensity that Ismael likes his side to play at, you would think he would need to be in top condition to get in the team.

The former West Ham winger has vast amounts of experience and has a good record in the Championship, having scored 31 goals and provided 42 assists in 144 appearances.

Snodgrass’ experience and quality delivery could come in handy this season for the Baggies as they look to bounce back up to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
