Don Goodman fears for Championship rivals after West Brom beat Sheffield United 4-0

Don Goodman has suggested the rest of the Championship should be fearful of West Brom after they beat Sheffield United 4-0 on Wednesday night.

The Baggies put the Blades to the sword at The Hawthorns with second-half goals from Dara O’Shea, Alex Mowatt and Callum Robinson adding to Jack Robinson’s own goal.

Former West Brom and Wolves striker Goodman was on commentary duties for Sky Sports’ live coverage of the clash between the two relegated sides, and he was in awe of the way Albion dismantled the visitors without getting out of second gear.

“The worrying thing for the Championship is I don’t think West Brom have played that well, they haven’t had to really,” Goodman said.

“They’ve scrapped, they’ve harried, scored from two set-pieces.

“I know they can play better, that’s the scary thing for the Championship.”

Formidable

Valerien Ismael looks to have created an Albion side in his image already – tough, unrelenting and with a touch of class.

Under his tutelage we have accrued seven points from a possible nine so far to see us soar top of the Championship table.

It’s very early days, but excitement is already beginning to bubble in B12 again.

That makes a refreshing change from last season where we were pretty much consigned to relegation within a matter of months.

There were brief shoots of recoveries under Sam Allardyce before the inevitable downturn occurred.

But now the confidence is flowing, and so far we look like the team to beat in the division.

If that’s us not playing well, it could be curtains for the rest of the Championship when we really click into gear.
