West Brom do not have option to buy Jordan Hugill

West Brom will not be having the option to buy Norwich striker Jordan Hugill permanently after agreeing on a loan deal, according to Pink Un.

The report details that the 29-year-old fell down the pecking order at Carrow Road and is now “set to be unveiled” as a Baggies player after travelling to the Black Country on Tuesday.

New boss Valerien Ismael was looking for a striker this summer and has signed the Englishman from the Premier League side.

Good move?

It’s good that we finally managed to sign a striker this summer, but the jury is still out on whether or not he would be a good fit for us.

We expected to sign someone permanently or at least having the option to buy him at the end of the season, so in terms of that, we’re left a bit unimpressed with this piece of business by the club.

We’re also unsure whether or not he would be a good fit for Ismael’s style of high-octane football, but given his credentials in the Championship, it’s worth taking a punt on him on loan.

Last season, he failed to impress, scoring just four times in 31 appearances, but the season before that when he played for QPR, he bagged 13 goals and registered an assist in 39 league games.

He also scored two in as many FA Cup games so he does know where the back of the net is, but is a tad erratic in terms of his consistency.

That said, there’s always some excitement when a new signing walks through the door and we hope that he gets close to 20 goals in all competitions this season.
