West Brom eye Norwich striker Jordan Hugill

West Brom are in the hunt to seal a late summer swoop for Norwich City striker Jordan Hugill, according to Alan Nixon.

Writing via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday, the Sun journalist reported that the Baggies are eyeing a loan deal for the 29-year-old ex-West Ham forward.

Nixon ended his tweet by suggesting that a deal for Hugill is “on”.

Is he good enough?

We do trust Valerien Ismael to make the right decisions in the transfer market but after selling Matheus Pereira for presumably a lot of money, solving our striker issue with a loan deal for Hugill is underwhelming.

In the last few years, we’ve signed players like Dwight Gayle, Harvey Barnes, Grady Diangana and Pereira himself while on loan in the Championship.

Matthew Clarke has started well at The Hawthorns since joining on loan from Brighton but he came before the Pereira exit was agreed.

Signing Hugill on loan now would be a bit disappointing.

After joining Norwich for £5million [BBC Sport] from West Ham last year, the powerful striker scored a grand total of four goals in his 31 Championship appearances for Norwich as they sealed promotion to the Premier League.

He started just seven times in the league but in his whole career, Hugill hasn’t been a goalscorer.

We can only assume the striker is wanted on loan at West Brom to add some more depth because Kenneth Zohore has been left out of Ismael’s last two matchday squads.

In other West Brom news, Albion could still swoop in to sign this Premier League goalscorer on loan this month.
