West Brom players urged to hold heads high by Karlan Grant
Karlan Grant has urged his West Brom teammates to hold their heads high after they suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
The likes of Rayhaan Tulloch, Tom Fellows, Quevin Castro, Ethan Ingram and Caleb Taylor were all given a chance against the Gunners, who fielded a number of senior first-team players on the night.
After a bright early start, the Baggies conceded a goal in the 17th minute which then set the tone for the rest of the game.
However, Grant was still proud by the efforts of his teammates, and took to Twitter to send them a message.
He wrote, “Fair play to the lads at WBA.
“A lot of young lads featuring and making there debuts tonight against a tough opponent.
“Hold your heads high, some bright futures ahead.”
Proud of the boys
West Brom fielded such a young and inexperienced side that there was no chance of beating a team of Arsenal’s calibre.
Valerien Ismael opted to hand five Baggies players their senior debuts and playing in front of a packed Hawthorns would’ve been the perfect way to kick-start their careers.
While they would’ve preferred to win the game, the boys cannot fault themselves for ending up on the wrong side of a 6-0 result.

Alex Palmer, who made his club debut after being on their books for 11 years would, not have liked six goals going past him, but there was not too much he could’ve done either.
Two players missed out due to Covid-19, in Callum Robinson and David Button, but Ismael’s bench showed that the cup wasn’t on his priority list this season.
It was a good outing for the youngsters who were made to work hard for 90 minutes and we’re now looking forward to having some of our senior players on the weekend against Peterborough.
