West Brom fans have been debating the merits of signing Troy Deeney this summer after Watford announced they were in discussions over his future.
In a statement posted via their official club website on Friday evening [27/08/21], the Premier League new-boys wrote that “Deeney and senior Watford FC officials are currently discussing the best options for both parties for the season ahead.”
The Birmingham-born striker has been linked with a move to The Hawthorns for many years now, and as recently as last year Sky Sports reported there was Albion interest in the 33-year-old.

There have not been any suggestions that Albion are set to launch an imminent bid for the Hornets captain, but with Ismael confirming that he was in pursuit of a new striker with just days of the transfer window remaining, we asked our panel of West Brom Super Fans whether they would be happy to sign him.
Here’s what they had to say…

Deeney has scored 84 Championship goals in his career, including seven in 19 appearances last season as Watford stormed to automatic promotion.
That was the second time he has gained promotion from the second-tier, while he also proved himself as a fearsome striker in the Premier League with 47 goals.
He may have a few injury issues now and his fitness could be a concern in Valerien Ismael’s high-pressing style, but he’d certainly represent an upgrade on Kenneth Zohore.
With time running out, Deeney may present himself as a valuable option to help spearhead Albion’s promotion push.
