Steve Madeley shares if West Brom will make another signing this month

Steve Madeley has shared that West Brom are unlikely to make any more signings before the August 31 deadline.

The Athletic journalist insisted that the final area of the side that desperately needed strengthening was midfield.

Valerien Ismael looked to solve that by adding Jayson Molumby on loan with a view to a permanent move on Friday evening.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Madeley insisted that another sale would need to be made for more business.

“Never say never but I wouldn’t expect any more incoming business in this window unless there’s anything outgoing first,” he wrote.

“Central midfield was the last area in obvious need of strengthening.”

Really?

It appears to be unthinkable that after selling Matheus Pereira and making loan signings, that the Baggies would be out of cash.

Matt Clarke, Jayson Molumby and Jordan Hugill are all on loan, with Alex Mowatt and Adam Reach arriving on free transfers – apart from wages there has been no outlay.

This has been a smart window, with all of those names handing the Albion more strength in depth, but one more big-name could make all the difference.

Ismael would surely have loved to make a statement with a big-money signing, and the money was finally there for once, but it looks unlikely to happen.

Hopefully, the injury picked up by Clarke isn’t a familiar pattern in the squad this season or we could be in real trouble.
