Kenneth Zohore faces being frozen out by Ismael at West Brom
Kenneth Zohore could be frozen out at West Brom by Valerien Ismael after a move away from The Hawthorns failed to materialise on deadline day.
According to the Express and Star, the Baggies were keen to offload the striker before the window shut, but it seems like there was no genuine interest in his services, which resulted in him staying put for now at the Hawthorns.
Having signed for an £8 million fee [Express and Star] in 2019, Zohore has certainly not lived up to the billing at the club, and the club would have to settle for a considerably lower amount if and when he’s off the books.
There’s a good chance that he’s used sparingly or even asked to train with the reserves by the manager.
Now that Jordan Hugill has arrived on loan, he is definitely ahead of the 27-year-old in the pecking order.
Thus far, Zohore has played just 22 minutes of Championship football this season with both his appearances coming in the dying stages of matches.
For such an expensive signing, a record for them in the second division, Zohore has certainly proven to be a disaster and a very poor business decision.
Last season was his chance to redeem himself when he was at Millwall on loan, but he struggled to make a mark there as well.
He only scored twice in 10 Championship games for Gary Rowett’s side, and did not impress the majority of Baggies fans who were hoping he’d succeed and get back into the first team for this season.
As things stand, he’s unlikely to feature on too many matchday squads and the club will surely regret not selling him sooner.
