Kevin Phillips reacts to Dara O’Shea injury problem

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips has predicted that West Brom will wrap Dara O’Shea in cotton wool over the next week.

The defender was forced off as the Republic of Ireland lost at Portugal last night, and it started worries at The Hawthorns.

Phillips labelled O’Shea as outstanding and predicted that he will be back available for the Millwall game in the Championship.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Phillips said, “He has been one of the better players.

“He’s got himself some goals, assists, a big game coming up next week. Of course, if it is going to be bad and miss that, it is going to be a blow.

“He has been outstanding and one of the most consistent players so I’d be surprised if he does miss it, I think they’ll wrap him in cotton wool.”

West Brom

Outstanding.

O’Shea has been the standout player of the season so far, no one would argue with that as we sit top of the table.

Phillips has noticed that too, and if his prediction was to come true would spark celebrations around the Hawthorns.

The young defender has history against Millwall with that header at The Den a couple of years back, and he will be looking to get another this time around.

Valerien Ismael and his team will surely be in touch with the Irish camp, and tipping them to send O’Shea back to the midlands.

That should give him more than enough time to recover.
