Kevin Phillips believes that West Brom will beat Millwall

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips has predicted that West Brom will beat Millwall today at the Hawthorns to continue the Baggies’ unbeaten league start.

The Baggies have picked up 13 points from their opening five league matches, and the former Baggies striker can see his old club extending that to 16 points from six.

Millwall have not had the best start to the season under Gary Rowett and are in 17th and have only won one match, and Phillips believes that the Lions will be playing for a draw.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Phillips said: “He’ll set them [Millwall] up to be very difficult to beat.

“He’ll be looking to take a draw straight away.

“I feel West Brom [have] got that bit between their teeth; they’ve got the confidence if they can start the game [quickly] and get an early goal, you would like to think they will go onto win.

“So I predict it will be a tough match, but I am going to say a 2-0 win to West Brom”.

West Brom to continue their fine start.

The Baggies did struggle in their last league game before the international break as they needed a late winner against Peterborough United to keep them near the top of the table.

However, Callum Robinson is back, as are quite a few other players, so Valerien Ismael has close to a full squad to choose from, and you would think they will prove to be too strong for Millwall [Birmingham Mail].

The Lions do have Benik Afobe up front, who is always a danger, but if they can keep him quiet, then we can see a pretty comfortable win for the Baggies.

Therefore, a 2-0 win for Ismael’s side seems about right, and we look forward to seeing how the Baggies do after the international break.

Ismael has his side picking up points and playing some great football, so long may it continue.

In other West Brom news, one Baggies man is edging closer to a return.
