Ryan Dilks and Justin Peach clash over the display of West Brom star Grady Diangana

West Brom star Grady Diangana has caused a clash on the latest edition of The Second Tier podcast between Justin Peach and Ryan Dilks.

Dilks believes that the 22-year-old didn’t play well against Derby County on Tuesday night, while Peach believes that he did.

This led to a brief but heated exchange between the two in which Dilks slated the former West Ham man while Peach attempted to defend him.

Peach said: “I thought Diangana was absolutely fantastic; he created a lot of chances.”

Dilks then interrupted Peach and said: “He didn’t complete a single dribble, he was dispossessed seven times, and he had six unsuccessful first touches, which doesn’t sound like a great game to me.”

Peach then responded: “I thought he exploited space. I thought he was a constant threat, and he got the ball into the box quite a lot.

“I don’t think you’re giving him enough credit. I thought he was really good.”

Was Diangana good?

Some of the statistics that Dilks quotes are not good and make the winger look like he had a poor game.

However, he was handed a 7/10 rating by the Birmingham Mail and was clearly one of the Baggies’ best players.

Dilks seems to be adamant that Diangana didn’t play well when many other people seem to think he did.

West Brom

Yes, the former Hammers winger has not been good enough over the course of the season or most of the last campaign, but it seems he was good on Tuesday night.

The switch over to the left by Valerien Ismael is a subtle difference, but it clearly helped Diangana thrive on Tuesday.

If he can start adding some end product to his game, then the Baggies could have another very dangerous player on their hands.

Certainly, we are more inclined to agree with what Peach is saying than with what Dilks says about the forward.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips has been left frustrated by the Baggies’ last two results.
