West Brom fans have been left unimpressed by comments from Valerien Ismael after Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw with Derby County.

Albion endured a disappointing night at The Hawthorns as the troubled Rams repelled everything that was thrown at them, with the home side drawing a blank despite 26 shots, nine of which were on target.

Ismael expressed his annoyance at the manner of the stalemate in the West Midlands. He said [via Birmingham Mail]: “Now you will recognise there is a clear trend against us.

“After five games, you have a clear picture of West Brom, and after the international break, the opponent comes here and doesn’t want to play football against us.

He added: “For sure, it is frustrating for us.”

Those were quotes that didn’t wash well with many Albion fans.

Here’s what our panel of West Brom Super Fans had to say about Ismael’s words…

Understandably, after successive home draws, there is a level of frustration among West Brom fans.

Albion, alongside Fulham, blew the Championship away in the first four games, winning three of them and scoring 10 goals.

The style of play was labelled as refreshing as Ismael sought to stamp his authority on the team straight away.

However, after just one win and two goals scored in three games, doubts have started to creep among supporters.

There are suggestions that Ismael is too one-dimensional, and the style of play has been criticised.

However, it’s important to note that he has had to deal with some big injuries recently.

Centre-back pair Matt Clarke and Dara O’Shea have both suffered significant injuries and have been missing since the international break, while Callum Robinson is working his way back from COVID-19 isolation.

Furthermore, Albion are still unbeaten and sat in the automatic positions. That’s not a bad start to the season, is it?
