West Brom Super Fans react to Sam Johnstone contract update

This is part of a regular series from our panel of West Brom Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our West Brom News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around The Hawthorns.

Sam Johnstone has still not resolved his West Brom future with time ticking down on his current deal at The Hawthorns.

The keeper is in the final year of his contract, and as things stand could leave the Baggies for free once it has finished.

Joe Chapman shared this week that talks are still ongoing and that Valerien Ismael remains positive over the situation.

Ismael may be confident, and hopefully, that is with good reason.

The longer this is taking, the more nervous people around the club should become, with Johnstone easily one of our biggest names.

Promotion back to the Premier League is the one sure thing that would keep him at the club, and without that, he is surely guaranteed to leave.

Any new deal will likely have a clause that will see him almost guaranteed to play in the top-flight next season, whether with the Baggies or elsewhere.

Hopefully, this can be sorted and we can avoid a situation where he leaves the club as early as January through this season.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Brom Super Fans if they were still confident that Johnstone would be sticking around, and there was a split response.

The majority urged the club to get a deal over the line, with one even suggesting that he could be leaving in January.

Here’s what they said below…
