West Brom star Karlan Grant praised by Valerien Ismael
West Brom star Karlan Grant has been praised by Valerien Ismael after he helped the Baggies beat QPR on Friday night.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, the Frenchman heaped praise on the goalscorer and claimed that he was “delighted” for the 24-year-old [Birmingham Mail].
Grant had a big hand in the first goal as he fired in a strike that Seny Dieng fumbled into his net. The goal was initially given as an own goal, but it has now been awarded to Grant, and then he finished off a fine move to seal the win.
Ismael said: “I was delighted for Karlan. He got the breakthrough, and he worked really hard for the other guys.”
Good night’s work for Grant.
The Baggies signed the 24-year-old in 2020, and he hasn’t really had that many chances to show what he can do.
Last season, he made just 21 appearances for West Brom in which he scored one goal – which was nowhere near good enough.
However, this season, he seems to be a lot more involved and has made nine appearances in which he has scored three goals and provided two assists.
In the past, the former Huddersfield Town striker has been described as “excellent” by Danny Cowley, and he pulled his side out of a tricky situation [Yorkshire Post].
The first goal was very lucky, but if you don’t shoot, you don’t score, and the second goal was beautiful.
A slick move involving Jordan Hugill and Callum Robinson ended with Grant arrowing the ball into the bottom corner to send the Baggies top of the table.
It is no wonder that his manager was so pleased.
