Chris Brunt wowed by Alex Mowatt goal in West Brom win v Cardiff
Chris Brunt was blown away by Alex Mowatt’s stunning goal for West Brom in their 4-0 win at Cardiff on Tuesday night.
Valerien Ismael’s side returned to the top of the Championship table with a routine win in South Wales as Karlan Grant, Mowatt and Matt Phillips all found themselves on the scoresheet, as well as an own goal.
It was Mowatt’s goal that has since gone viral on social media though with the ex-Barnsley midfielder scoring with an absolute rocket of a half-volley in the second half.

Ex-Albion captain Brunt seemed to be in disbelief when he saw the 26-year-old’s left-footed striker.
“Wow, what a finish. What a strike,” said Brunt, as shown in a clip on Albion’s official Twitter account.
“He will not hit a better one than that, will he? What a finish.”
Simply ridiculous
There’s no point in looking out for a goal of the season now because Mowatt’s won it already.
It was hit with such power, precision and technique that no one is likely to replicate anything near that again for a good while.
West Brom players have scored some memorable goals down the years and Brunt’s wand of a left foot was responsible for a good few of those.
But in Mowatt, Ismael seems to have found a new left-footed magician, who’s already scored a couple of beauties this season.
West Brom fans had started to grow impatient with Ismael’s style of play and the struggling performances of certain players.
But it’s fair to say that in the last week, fears have been allayed and doubters have been silenced.
If you have Mowatt in your side, the impossible always seems possible.
In other West Brom news, an ex-referee was baffled by a “really bad call” that happened in this Albion game.
