West Brom star Alex Mowatt hails his goal after Cardiff City win
West Brom beat Cardiff City 4-0 on Tuesday night thanks to goals from Karlan Grant, an own goal from Curtis Nelson, Matt Phillips, and Alex Mowatt.
The former Barnsley man’s strike was the pick of the bunch as he rocketed in a sublime strike from the edge of the box on the half volley [Sky Sports].
After the game, he appeared on West Brom’s Twitter feed story and praised himself for his goal.
He said: “What a screamer that was by me.”
He has every right to boast.
He appeared to be re-creating a video from his Barnsley times.
Mowatt has scored three goals for the Baggies since he joined as a free agent in the summer, but this was probably the best of the lot.
The 26-year-old clearly has excellent technique because this is arguably one of the most difficult things to do on a football pitch.
However, he executed it perfectly, and we would be very surprised if this strike wasn’t nominated for Goal of the Month; it was that good.

The former Leeds United midfielder has looked like a fantastic signing so far, and he has been described as “brilliant” by former Barnsley assistant Dale Tonge in the past [The Athletic].
He has settled into life very quickly at the Hawthorns, and this was just the latest in a stunning range of goals scored by Mowatt.
He looks every inch a Premier League midfielder in many ways, and hopefully, he can make it there with West Brom.
In other West Brom news, the Baggies fans mocked Mick McCarthy on Tuesday night.
