Colin Murray stunned by West Brom v Cardiff

Colin Murray has insisted that West Brom may finally be getting to their best under Valerien Ismael this season.

The EFL on Quest presenter admitted it was frightening for the rest of the Championship to see the Albion blow Cardiff away 4-0.

An own goal and strikes from Karlan Grant, Alex Mowatt and Matt Phillips ensured that the Baggies would be sitting top of the Championship.

West Brom

Speaking on Quest, Murray was clearly thrilled by what he saw from the Baggies on their travels this week.

“Best performance of the season so far from West Brom for me,” he said.

“This won’t be Ismael’s team straight away, it’s going to take 10 or 15 games, I think we saw one tonight that’s quite frightening.”

Jobi McAnuff, usually on Sky Sports, responded,

“That is what we probably expected to see, we haven’t seen it enough this season, I definitely feel Cardiff contributed to that.

“They were fantastic.”

West Brom

Warning.

This was a real message to the rest of the Championship that the Baggies are finally hitting top gear under Ismael.

After struggling for the past month and securing three straight draws and a tight win against Queens Park Rangers, the shackles came off in Wales.

Bringing back the likes of Callum Robinson certainly helped, and Ismael potentially finally knowing the most of his strongest starting side will help everyone.

Once Matt Clarke and potentially Dara O’Shea are back involved too, we could be seeing an even better West Brom side charge towards promotion.

Bournemouth have been in great form recently, but even that wasn’t enough to leave a struggling Baggies outfit behind, and they could have missed a real chance to create a gap.

Now that Ismael’s men are top, we expect them to continue growing that gap in the foreseeable future and cement their place in the top two before and after this international break.
