West Brom ace Conor Townsend blows Don Goodman away
West Brom star Conor Townsend blew Don Goodman away in the first half of the game against Birmingham City.
The left-wing-back made an unbelievable recovery challenge on Tahith Chong after he broke away from a West Brom corner.
It appeared as if Chong had beaten him all ends up, but just as he got to the byline, the 28-year-old produced a sublime tackle that he had to time right.

This clearly impressed Goodman, who said on Sky Sports: “I tell you what how good is this defensively?
“Outstanding needed to be”.
Goodman then added later on in the half: “He’s been brilliant so far, he’s been the star player for West Bromwich Albion.”
Huge tackle from Townsend.
This was an excellent tackle by Townsend, who deserves immense credit for stopping Chong.
He also nearly scored in the first half when he received a pass and advanced forward, and unleashed a fierce shot that was tipped over the bar.
So, he wasn’t just good defensively, but he was also a threat going forward as well, and it is no surprise to see Goodman heaping praise on him for his display and this tackle in the first half.

He also made several other marauding runs forward that unfortunately didn’t return any reward, but he looks so much better back as a left-wing-back, which is fair enough.
With the score at 0-0, it could be up to Townsend to make the difference as the Baggies look to push on and seal the win, which they need to move clear at the top of the table.
