West Brom working on transfers already
Valerien Ismael has confirmed that West Brom are working on transfers ahead of the January transfer window.
Speaking to the Express & Star, the Frenchman revealed what work the Baggies had already done in preparation and also how difficult he believes the winter window to be.
This is a positive update from Ismael, and it suggests that he knows that the squad needs to be improved, which we hope will please Baggies fans.

He said: “We are working – it’s not a secret; behind the scenes, we are working on it.
“We’ve only had a first window, but when a new manager comes in with a new way to play, it takes time to pick the right player and to improve. We need to assess the six months between the two windows and see exactly what we need to adjust, what we need to compete at that level.
“The January window is always a difficult one because you need to take players who make an impact straight away.
“You don’t have time to waste; you play. We already have our ID; the only question is whether we can realise this in January.”
Good update from Ismael.
Considering that the Baggies have lost two of their last three games, it is important that they make the right signings in January.
Judging by this interview, it seems as if Ismael is well on the way to identifying his targets, which is good news.
It is pretty clear that the Baggies lack a proper striker.
Jordan Hugill works hard for the team, but he is yet to score, and Callum Robinson arguably needs someone to play alongside him to maximise his ability.

So, you would hope that they are looking for a forward and perhaps another central midfielder, which is another position in which the Baggies look short of bodies.
Either way, though, it is good to hear Ismael talk so openly about transfers and the club’s planning for January.
You would think that in the long term, the Baggies are in good hands with a manager as detailed and meticulous as Ismael.
