Stuart Webber launches bizarre rant that includes West Brom

West Brom have been included in a bizarre rant from Norwich City club chief Stuart Webber.

Speaking to The Guardian about his club’s start in the Premier League, Webber claimed that he told staff that they could swap places with the Baggies if they weren’t up for the fight.

Webber defended the Canaries’ transfer business and strategy and suggested that Norwich and the Baggies should switch places if the club can’t deal with the Premier League.

He said: “We play in the best league in the world, and it is a privilege for Daniel [Farke] to go up against Thomas Tuchel or Marcelo Bielsa.

“I said to the staff if we don’t want that, let’s ring up West Brom and see if they want another go and we will [go] back there and play Peterborough. Or we can come into this league and prove we are good enough. If we are not, we are not.”

Very odd rant.

It seems as if Webber was trying to get the staff motivated but was there any need to drag the Baggies into it?

Like Norwich, West Brom have the reputation of being a yo-yo club, but there was no reason for Webber to mention them in this surreal rant at the Canaries’ critics.

West Brom are moving along quite steadily under Valerien Ismael and are in a strong position after the first 14 games of the season.

Obviously, the aim is to get back into the Premier League at the first time of asking, and you would hope they would put up more of a fight than Norwich have so far.

It has been a pretty brutal season for the Canaries so far, and they have suffered some heavy defeats.

However, this still doesn’t explain why Webber mentioned the Baggies in his rant when he would probably be best focusing on his side and their problems.

In other West Brom news, David Prutton has made his prediction for the game against Fulham.
