Kevin Phillips: Jake Livermore will come straight back in for West Brom v Fulham

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips believes that West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore will come back into the starting XI against Fulham tomorrow.

The Baggies stalwart missed the 3-0 win over Bristol City last week through suspension but is back available for selection.

Phillips admitted that Jayson Molumby and Robert Snodgrass shined last week, but insisted that Livermore is a “big-game player.”

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Phillips said, “I think Livermore and Mowatt are both first choice, it’s great to have them two.

“Molumby and Snodgrass coming off the back of a solid performance, if he is fit, Livermore, he comes straight back in.

“That’s nearly his strongest team, it’s great to know he has competition for places and you’ve got that back-up where they can come and perform.

“Livermore, if he’s fit, coming back from suspension, he will go straight back in, he’s a big-game player.”

West Brom

Big game.

There aren’t many bigger games in the Championship this season than Fulham away at Craven Cottage.

Livermore is perfect for those situations, and he won’t shy away from any responsibility in the squad against dangerous opposition.

The likes of Harry Wilson have been shining in the Championship, and it will be up to our senior players to keep him quiet.

Given he has just served his first suspension of the season for hitting five yellow cards, Livermore won’t be walking on thin ice, and he’ll be ready to get stuck in.

Hopefully, his experience shines through and Livermore can be vital in helping us pick up a huge three points at the top of the table.
