West Brom manager Valerien Ismael targeted by new report from The Athletic

Steve Madeley has called for West Brom manager Valerien Ismael to do more to change games.

In his latest article for The Athletic, Madeley highlights Ismael’s flaws and apparent inability to change games when the Baggies are losing.

West Brom have only won one game this season after falling behind in the league, and Madeley thinks that Ismael’s commitment to the 3-4-3 could be hindering the side.

However, he also doesn’t believe there are enough options in the squad, which is on the board, not Ismael.

Interesting view of Ismael.

This is actually a very fair and balanced view of Ismael’s time at the Hawthorns so far.

When the Baggies take the lead, they can smash opposition sides and have only lost once after scoring first.

However, if they concede, then it does seem as if the Frenchman doesn’t necessarily have a backup plan, and he often sticks to the same formation but tries to change the personnel.

It has worked in some games but hasn’t in others, so you can see why Madeley has highlighted this point and put some effort into looking at it.

Now, in the grand scheme of things, the Baggies are performing well and sit in third place behind Fulham and Bournemouth.

However, they have started losing a few more games recently, and it is up to Ismael to sort that out and they are four points off second.

Therefore, he must hope that the board will back him and allow him to strengthen the squad significantly in January.

In other West Brom news, Kevin Phillips has been left baffled by one Baggies loan man.
