Alex Mowatt ruled out for Hull and Middlesbrough games

West Brom are set to be without the services of Alex Mowatt for their games against Hull and Middlesbrough, Valerien Ismael has confirmed.

The Baggies midfielder has impressed since his move to the Hawthorns, scoring three and assisting one in 12 Championship games this season.

However, he hasn’t featured since the October 15 win against Birmingham and is likely to return after the international break.

Via The Athletic’s Steve Madeley, “Ismael also ruled Alex Mowatt out of this week’s two home games v Hull and Middlesbrough with his foot problem. Hopes to have the midfielder back immediately after the international break, which comes after the Boro game.”

Big blow

The Baggies midfield looked threadbare in their recent 3-0 defeat against Fulham.

It was far from what a side battling for promotion looks like and Mowatt’s absence was dearly felt at Craven Cottage.

He’s adapted wonderfully to live at the Hawthorns and has earned praises from the captain Jake Livermore.

Via the Express and Star, Livermore said of the 26-year-old, “He’s been brilliant ever since he came in. He is a great lad first and foremost. He’s a fantastic lad and a brilliant player as well.”

However, Ismael will now have to find a way to get the best out of Livermore and Robert Snodgrass, if he opts to start the two again.

The Baggies cannot afford more points in their quest for promotion and Hull and Middlesbrough are games that they should be picking up six points from.
