Matheus Pereira spotted at The Hawthorns as West Brom draw 1-1 v Middlesbrough
Matheus Pereira was spotted in attendance at The Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon as West Brom drew 1-1 with Middlesbrough.
Pereira, 25, spent two seasons with the West Midlands outfit before his acrimonious exit to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in August.
Valerien Ismael had questioned the Brazilian’s commitment to the club before his departure, comments that Pereira called “disrespectful”.
However, it appears that he holds no ill-feeling towards the club as an Albion fan tweeted via his personal Twitter profile that “Matheus Pereira [is a] few seats along from me.”
There won’t have been many Albion supporters expecting such a swift return to The Hawthorns from Pereira.
He left the club under a cloud after a summer of transfer unrest, and it was his decision to opt for a move to the far-est that caused particular annoyance among the fanbase.
Pereira cited a life-changing offer for his family as the reason, while it didn’t appear as if a Premier League club offered the right amount for his services.
But perhaps today’s visit went some way to building back his relationship with the supporters.
It’s possible that Pereira was in the country to collect some more of his belongings and see some friends as his Al-Hilal side do not play again until November 23 amid the upcoming international break.
Pereira may regret his decision to pay a visit to The Hawthorns, however, as West Brom stumbled to a disappointing draw to further dent their promotion ambitions.
In other West Brom news, this Albion ace suffered a major injury blow against Middlesbrough.
