Neil Warnock expects friendly welcome by West Brom fans

Neil Warnock expects West Brom fans to give him a good reception as he makes his Hawthorns return as Middlesbrough manager on Sunday.

The Boro boss faces a must-win scenario as his job appears to be on the line due to poor league performances.

West Brom, who are overwhelming favourites, are expected to continue their quest for promotion and pick up three points.

Ahead of the game, Warnock said, per Birmingham Mail, “They’re a top side, there’ll be a good crowd out. I always get a good reception at West Brom, from the West Brom fans!

“They know I’ll try and spoil the party if I can. I enjoy it when we haven’t got a chance, according to everybody in bookies, and journalists. They’re the games you revel in, and that’s why I’m looking forward to it.”

Three points must

Warnock’s unlikely to get a good reception should the Baggies be losing, but if they’re up by two or three, the fans won’t really bother.

They will be focused on celebrating the win, but in case the game’s on the knife-edge, then it could be a different atmosphere inside the Hawthorns.

In the past, it’s proven to be a hostile place for the hosts if they’re not playing well so it’s essential that Valerien Ismael gets his team to start this one on the front foot.

His side are still some way from the top two, but winning games regularly will not hurt.

The Fulham game may still be playing in the minds of the players, but hopefully, they can put that one away and win against Middlesbrough.
