West Brom plan to open contract talks with Taylor Gardner-Hickman

West Brom plan to open contract talks with breakthrough starlet Taylor Gardner-Hickman, according to a new report.

The Athletic report that the Baggies plan to move on from sealing Conor Townsend’s future by tying down a few other players, including Gardner-Hickman.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and followed that up with his league debut against Hull City, and now the Baggies want to seal his long-term future.

Gardner-Hickman’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2023, so you can see why they want to sort out this new contract as they look to build for the future.

Good news for the Baggies.

Gardner-Hickman is one of a few very talented youngsters in the West Brom academy, so it is good to see that they plan to open contract talks with him.

Given that Valerien Ismael only has a few options at right and left-wing-back, you would expect Gardner-Hickman to maybe feature more and more in the first team over the busy festive period.

Therefore, it is great to see the Baggies planning to open contract talks, and hopefully, they can get the deal sorted out pretty quickly.

If Gardner-Hickman signs on the dotted line and commits his future to the club, that could encourage others to follow suit.

Therefore, you would think the next few weeks and months are important for West Brom as they look to secure the futures of several of their young stars who all could have big careers ahead of them.

Gardner-Hickman is just one of this bunch, and hopefully, his new contract is sorted out soon.
