Cedric Kipre in danger of West Brom starting XI axe after 1-0 loss v Huddersfield

West Brom suffered their third away defeat on the bounce on Saturday as Daniel Sinani’s early opener saw Huddersfield Town win 1-0 at the Kirkless Stadium.

The 24-year-old’s sixth-minute strike was the only goal of the game as West Brom suffered another dent to their automatic promotion hopes.

Slaven Bilic signing Cedric Kipre made his third consecutive start for Albion with the 24-year-old keeping Semi Ajayi out of the side again.

However, it wasn’t the best of days for the Frenchman in West Yorkshire, and a constant theme developed.

As seen above, Kipre tries to play Danny Ward offside in the build-up to Sinani’s winner.

It fails, however, as Taylor Gardner-Hickman is nowhere near to being in line with the rest of the defence.

Perhaps the teenage full-back can be blamed for this, but shouldn’t Kipre be a bit more aware?

Given the seriousness of the situation, with one ball able to send a Terriers striker through on goal, it was a major risk taken by Kipre.

Calling for offside was a theme of Kipre’s game, as also seen in this next example below.

Despite the ball travelling a long way from the Huddersfield defence, Kipre raises his hand in expectation of the flag being raised for offside.

It never comes, however, and Huddersfield are free to bear down on goal once more as Kipre loses valuable time by calling for offside and not concentrating on bursting back.

It could have proved costly, but the move came to an end after a shot inside the box.

Kipre is not the main culprit or the biggest reason for West Brom’s defeat to Huddersfield, but there have been questions asked about his inclusion in the starting XI and Saturday failed to show that the defender offers much.

He was also booked, his second in as many games, and Ajayi is surely chomping at the bit to get back into the side.

Valerien Ismael could make the change as early as Tuesday when Albion make the trip to face Blackpool.

In other West Brom news, Ismael is ready to pull the trigger on this exit-linked Albion player.
