ITV presenter unhappy with Valerien Ismael after Blackpool draw, wants West Brom to sign striker

ITV News presenter Daniel Hewitt has expressed huge West Brom play-off concerns after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Blackpool.

The West Brom fan, writing via his personal Twitter profile, suggests a top-six finish could be off the table if the club don’t sign a new centre-forward in the January transfer window.

“Without a striker in January Albion will struggle to make the playoffs,” Hewitt said. “Doesn’t help having a manager who refuses to change formation or style when things clearly aren’t working, but when things aren’t going well you need a goalscorer who can pinch games and we don’t have it.”

Freefall?

It wasn’t too long ago that West Brom were neck and neck with Fulham and Bournemouth in the race for automatic promotion as they bid for an instant return to the Premier League.

But, after a run of just three wins in their last nine games, Albion are now lagging behind the top two.

Fulham have won their last seven matches while Bournemouth have only lost twice in the league all season.

Seven points now separate the second-placed Cherries and Albion in third, and the south-coast side have a game in hand.

Automatic promotion hopes are fading, and now there are concerns that even a play-off spot may be out of reach if this form continues.

Finishing outside the top six would be an utter failure on behalf of Valerien Ismael and his side.

The pressure is now on to recover and claim all three points when they return to The Hawthorns on Friday to face Nottingham Forest.
