Steve Madeley shares West Brom fans chant towards the board during Blackpool draw

West Brom supporters made their feelings to the board known during Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Blackpool, according to The Athletic’s Steve Madeley.

The West Midlands club huffed and puffed at Bloomfield Road but were unable to breach the Tangarine’s defence, managing just three shots on target from 25 shots.

Writing via his personal Twitter profile in the second half, Madeley shared what was being sung in the away end.

“‘Sack the board’ sing a pocket of the Albion fans to by left who have, in the main, been supportive of Ismael and the team tonight,” Madeley said.

After it was put to him that a ‘pocket’ was kind, Madeley replied: “Yes, fair to say the pocket became a groundswell in the last couple of minutes and at the final whistle.”

Bored of the board?

After a summer of discontent that saw star player Matheus Pereira sold and Sam Johnstone constantly linked away, there were positive signs at West Brom when the season started.

Albion won four of their first five Championship games, scoring 12 goals, while they went unbeaten in their first 11 league games, only seeing their resistance broken by Stoke City in a 1-0 defeat on October 1.

However, events have gone downhill since that reversal.

Valerien Ismael’s side have now won just three of their last nine games, losing four of them, and their last away victory came way back on September 28.

Ismael has taken his fair share of the blame for that, but there is also agreement among supporters that he has had his hands tied behind his back in the transfer market.

The lack of a quality centre-forward came back to bite Albion against Blackpool last night, and it’s been a running theme for them of late, particularly away from home where they have score just one goal in their last five games.

A big January awaits the Baggies, but there is little optimism that anything will change.
