Kevin Phillips reacts to Robert Snodgrass’ situation at West Brom
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips believes West Brom could be making a mistake by letting Robert Snodgrass go.
The former Baggies forward thinks that Snodgrass’ experience could come in handy and could help the Baggies a lot.
However, he also thinks that fans need to respect Ismael’s decision and trust that he knows what he’s doing.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Phillips said: “From the outside looking in, it’s only the manager that can answer that question because we don’t know how bad, how severe the argument is and what the disagreement [is] about.
“He’s a very experienced player, Snodgrass, and I’ve always said he will have his opinion because they’ve been going through a bit of a tough run of late.
“So he will feel that he needs to say something.
“You would have to say at the minute; he’s made his feelings clear.
“You could look at in terms of they might be making a slight mistake because the run they’re in at the moment, they perhaps need those experienced players to be in and around the squad and help those young players.
“So, it could come back to bite them, but at the end of the day, we have to give respect to the manager; he’s made a clear decision, the player can leave.”
Snodgrass reportedly fell out with Ismael, and the Frenchman has deemed him surplus to requirements ahead of the January transfer window [Alan Nixon].
Up until this point, the 34-year-old has made seven appearances for the Baggies, so it is not as if he has been a key player this season.

Yes, he has lots of experience, but does he have the energy and the pace required to play in this system?
You would suggest that he doesn’t, and it might be best for both parties if he moves on.
In other West Brom news, Simon Jordan was furious with one moment during the game against Coventry.
