Valerien Ismael sets challenge to West Brom fans

Valerien Ismael has challenged West Brom fans to replicate the atmosphere on Saturday against Coventry City [04 December] at the Hawthorns going forward.

Speaking to the Express & Star, the Frenchman revealed that he wants his side to build momentum and start pushing the current top two.

However, to do that, it seems as if he wants the fans to be more involved.

He said: “We have everything in place. We are in a good position – we have to come from behind, but maybe for us, that is the best position. We need to build momentum; it’s as simple as that.

“It was unbelievable (the support) at Coventry. Away, the support we have had is massive.

“At Coventry, it felt like we were playing at home. The guys deserved the three points, and the fans deserved the three points as well because they were fantastic.

“Now we hope we get the same feeling, the same atmosphere at home.”

Ismael sets out a challenge.

Now, we feel as if this goes both ways, and the players and manager can’t just expect a good atmosphere if they are turning in useless performances.

Some of the displays both home and away this season have left a lot to be desired, and it is up to the players to entertain the crowd.

Albion fans don’t demand a lot, they just want to be entertained, and the atmosphere at the Hawthorns has the potential to get lively.

However, it is up to the players to try and motivate the fans either by playing some nice stuff or perhaps flying into some tackles.

Now, the fans are responsible for lifting the team if they aren’t playing well, so it is definitely a bit of both.

Ismael has every right to ask the fans to contribute more, but he must deliver entertaining football in response.

Against Coventry City, the Baggies were very good for about 70 minutes, so if they can replicate that, we can imagine the Hawthorns will be bouncing.
