Matt Phillips ruled out for West Brom this weekend

West Brom winger Matt Phillips has been ruled out of the game against Reading by Valerien Ismael.

In his pre-match press conference, the Frenchman confirmed that the 30-year-old would miss the match with a hamstring injury [Steve Madeley personal Twitter profile].

The Baggies have also had a Covid outbreak, though Ismael wouldn’t reveal just who was missing.

However, it looks as if Albion could be without a few players for the visit of the Royals as West Brom look to keep up their unbeaten home record and put more pressure on the top two.

Bad news for the Baggies.

Phillips wasn’t involved last Saturday against Coventry City, and it seems as if he won’t be playing tomorrow either.

This is a shame for both Phillips and the Baggies because he has been an important player this season for Ismael.

The former QPR man has made 19 appearances for Albion this season in which he has played all across the front three and as an attacking midfielder, scored three goals, and provided two assists.

So, he has done a decent job for Albion and is actually one of their top goalscorers this season.

So, to be without one attacking option for this game could prove to be a problem for the Baggies.

However, given Reading’s position in the table, you would think that Albion should have more than enough to make the difference and seal another big win.

Hopefully, Phillips is back soon enough to contribute to Albion’s bust festive period.

In other West Brom news, Ismael has confirmed the Covid problems within his squad.
