Barnsley confirm one Covid case ahead of West Brom game

Barnsley have confirmed that they have one positive Covid case ahead of the game against West Brom at Oakwell on Friday.

The Yorkshire Post report that the player has been sent home and will isolate and that the Tykes are confident of the game going ahead.

It appears as if Covid hasn’t spread around the camp and the relegation stragglers are keen to play the match.

However, given the Baggies’ own Covid situation, you would think that any more cases in either camp could lead to the game being in doubt.

The show must go on.

Now, the Baggies managed to patch up a team at the weekend and secured themselves a nice 1-0 victory that has actually cut the gap to Bournemouth.

The Baggies have a chance to cut that gap even more if the game on Friday goes ahead.

The Tykes have massively struggled so far this season, and if they have contained the Covid outbreak, the match should go ahead.

Now, they will see it as an opportunity to push their way up the league; however, the Baggies should still be able to field a strong side, and they should be in a good position to take three points.

However, given the Covid situation in both camps, you would have to say that the next 24 hours are going to be nervous as we wait to see what impact the virus has.

So, things are looking OK as things stand, but that could easily change.
