Jake Livermore reveals January transfer window wish at West Brom
West Brom captain Jake Livermore is hopeful the club will make signings in January to boost their promotion chances.
The Baggies started the season well but have recently found themselves with just two wins in eight games and have slipped down to fourth place in the table behind Fulham, Bournemouth and in-form Blackburn.
Manager Valerien Ismael has already admitted the need to add goals to the team in January and now captain Livermore has added his own wishes to the public domain.
While speaking after the defeat to Derby this week, Livermore admitted that the club need reinforcements in January to help the club get to where they want to be.
“January is coming as well,” he said, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail. “Hopefully the club has got plans and the manager has got plans and they will help us get to where we want to be.”
Booster is a buzzword outside of sports right now, but it’s exactly what West Brom need in January to their squad if they want to reinvigorate their promotion push.
They have scored just 30 goals in 24 games so far this season, less than all their promotion rivals and their top scorer Karlan Grant has scored just nine times so far.
With such a clear area for improvement visible in the team, it’s the job of the club hierarchy to ensure that they get a deal or two done to give themselves the best chance of a return to the Premier League.
Defensively they are solid, conceding a league-low 18 goals so far but they need to be able to score more to really put the pressure on the likes of Fulham, Bournemouth and Blackburn who all have goalscorers at the top of the golden boot chart.
The manager has said it publicly, the fans have been saying it and now the captain has said it. West Brom need January signings or they’re in big trouble.
