Sky Sports pundit blasts 'stupid' Cedric Kipre in West Brom loss v Brighton
Michael Dawson blasted Cedric Kipre after the West Brom defender was sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Brighton at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Kipre, 25, was shown a red card after getting two yellow cards in as many minutes during the second half of the FA Cup Third Round clash.
Sky Sports pundit Dawson couldn’t believe how quickly Kipre managed to get himself shown his marching orders.
“Kipre has had two bookings in the space of two minutes – stupid,” said Dawson on Sky Sports News on Saturday [8 January, 04:29pm].
“Kipre plays on the edge anyway but he kicked [Neal] Maupay and [Alexis] Mac Allister.
“Six or seven minutes ago he caught Mac Allister, yellow card. Then Trossard runs down… he pulls Trossard back, second yellow, red card.”
It starts from the top
West Brom’s disciplinary issues are fast becoming a joke.
In the last 12 matches, six red cards have been shown to Albion players with three of them coming in the last two.
Last week, we saw tempers explode at the end of the 1-1 draw with Cardiff as Valerien Ismael charged onto the pitch and caused chaos to erupt.
Sam Johnstone was sent off and there’s no doubt that Ismael will get a touchline ban for the QPR game next week, when Alex Mowatt, Johnstone and Kipre will also be suspended.
Ismael’s actions last weekend seem to suggest that our disciplinary issues start from the top.
If your manager acts like that and has to be dragged away by Jake Livermore, it just shows that he’s struggling to keep himself in check – let alone his players.
Kipre’s a clumsy player and there’s a reason why he was overlooked in the Premier League last season.
He’s done better this term but ultimately, this is a player who the Baggies should be able to upgrade on in the transfer market.
Unfortunately, we just know that won’t happen this month.
In other West Brom news, this star man could have played his final game for the Baggies.
