Daryl Dike ruled out for eight weeks with hamstring injury – report
West Brom striker Daryl Dike has been ruled out for eight weeks with a hamstring injury picked up against Peterborough, meaning he will miss 11 games.
The American international striker signed for the Baggies at the start of the month from Orlando City FC as Valerien Ismael looked to bolster his attacking options.
After coming off the bench against QPR, Dike made his full debut against Peterborough at the weekend but lasted just 53 minutes before going down with a hamstring problem.
It was initially hoped that Dike would only miss a couple of weeks with a strain, but scans have confirmed the injury is more severe and he will miss around eight weeks as shared by Joe Chapman above.
That means he will miss around 11 fixtures, which is huge considering that West Brom have dropped lower down the playoff places because of recent form.
Horrid luck
The transfer was seen as a huge positive for the club at the start of the month and while form didn’t pick up immediately, his presence up front last time out was noticeable.
He stretched the defence, used his power in duels, was aggressive and found himself in good positions despite not getting on the scoresheet.

His style suits Ismael’s tactics perfectly, as we saw during their stint together at Barnsley last season.
With Dike now out for the next two months, the Baggies are back at square one in their attacking department and will be desperate to find a solution before the window shuts.
If not, their rotten goalscoring troubles are likely to continue and they have already proven to be a big problem.
West Brom’s promotion bid was reliant on a goalscorer coming in January, so now that he’s unavailable there is a big problem at the Hawthorns.
