View: West Brom need to make decision on Muriqi with club lurking

West Brom are facing a race against time to sign Lazio striker Vedat Muriqi this month as another club has entered the race for the Kosovan star.

According to AS, Mallorca are the newest club in the hunt for the 27-year-old as they find themselves in a similar position to the Baggies.

Valerien Ismael has been keen on signing the six-foot four-inch striker this month, as per Alfredo Pedulla, but the club are yet to act with the Italian side willing to listen to offers.

It’s no surprise to see clubs circling with interest around Muriqi, who was once described by legendary Turkish goalkeeper Rustu Recber as the “ideal centre forward” [Hurriyet], as he possesses all the attributes to be a menace to defences.

Ismael has already added to his attacking options this month having brought Daryl Dike to the Hawthorns at the beginning of the window from Orlando City.

But the American is now injured for eight weeks which has put Ismael’s plans back into disarray.

He needs to make a decision on Muriqi and he needs to do it as soon as possible because he may not be on the market for much longer given the interest shown from elsewhere in Europe.

He has all the capabilities to be a free-scoring star in the Championship and he could pose quite the threat in the Premier League should the Baggies manage to earn promotion this season.

It is only their second division status that might hold them back, but they won’t get anywhere near him if they don’t make an offer.

In other West Brom news, the early team news suggests positive injury updates in defence.
