‘Spiral of decline’ leads to Adrian Goldberg wanting Ismael out of West Brom
West Brom supporters have started to call for Valerien Ismael to be sacked and former BBC WM presenter Adrian Goldberg has joined them.
Goldberg is a Baggies fan and after the gutless performance on Wednesday (26 January) that saw West Brom lose for the first time at home this season against Preston, he has seen enough.
Emil Riis Jakobsen and Cameron Archer bagged the goals for the Lilywhites and Archer’s goal, to double their lead, caused a mass evacuation of the Hawthorns with many fans unable to watch anymore.
“I hate to be the predictable football fan who calls for the sacking of the manager after a few bad results but…he’s gorra goo,” Goldberg tweeted from his personal account.
“West Brom are caught in a spiral of decline on and off the field which is far bigger than Ismael, but he’s now part of the problem. Sorry, but Val Out.”
Thin ice
West Brom have dropped seven points away from the automatic promotion places, currently occupied by Blackburn and runaway leaders Fulham, and the Baggies fans have had enough.
Ismael has been stubborn in his ways, refusing to change his tactic in order to score more goals and that has been the major downfall of the team this season.

Too often in 2021-22 West Brom have laboured to a draw or only just scraped past relegation-threatened teams as they struggle to find a way to score.
Unlike their promotion rivals who have been as free-scoring as they can be, even if that has meant a slightly leakier defence.
Ismael though seems content with too many draws whereas other clubs are happy to lose a game when trying to win.
It is something that needs to change immediately if West Brom are to remain in the hunt for promotion or Ismael’s time at the Hawthorns may be coming to an end.
In other West Brom news, Steve Madeley has revealed details of a training ground row between Ismael and this Baggies star.
