David Prutton predicts result of West Brom against Millwall

West Brom return to action on Saturday with a trip to The Den to face Millwall, and Valerien Ismael will be keen for a win to keep himself in the job.

David Prutton does not see that happening, though, predicting a 1-0 loss for the Baggies tomorrow (29 January) while previewing the clash in his Sky Sports column.

Both sides are not in good form heading into the game, so a victory could swing in any direction, but a defeat could cost the Frenchman his job amid Albion’s poor run of form.

Prutton said: “Three defeats in a row now for Millwall. It is starting to feel like another season of mid-table for them unless they start putting a real run together.

“West Brom thought they might have been back in business at the weekend after they rallied late to beat Peterborough.

“But the result against Preston shows there is still a lot not going quite right under Valerien Ismael.

“I think it could be another damaging defeat for his side at The Den as well.

Ominous

Could this be the end for Ismael at The Hawthorns?

Mid-week’s loss to Preston North End was met with more fierce criticism of his style of play, with some of the players said to be “unconvinced“.

The former Barnsley boss is under more pressure than ever right now at West Brom, and he simply has to win on Saturday to stay in the job.

Andy Carroll joined his side today after his short-term deal with Reading ended earlier this month, and should the English striker manage to hit the ground running, he could help save their campaign.

The Baggies will need him to deliver tomorrow with Daryl Dike out, and that would come in very much handy.

They need a win right now and a run of good results to get their promotion campaign back on track, and the Millwall clash is a huge one.

It could be the start of some much-needed results or the end of Ismael’s reign in the dugout.

In other West Brom news, a major multi-million cash boost for Albion set to happen within weeks after Lai decision.
