Jeff Stelling blasts ‘ridiculous’ West Brom fans after ugly footage in defeat v Millwall

Jeff Stelling has told West Brom fans to stay at home if they cannot watch their team lose without throwing missiles onto the pitch.

West Brom’s 2-0 defeat to Millwall at The Den was halted late in the second half when smoke bombs and seats were thrown from the away fans.

Tensions has been high for months and are starting to spill over as fans call for manager Valerien Ismael to be sacked.

However, there’s no excuse for the scenes at The Den on Saturday and Stelling has call on Albion fans to stop it.

“Just stop it,” said Stelling, as shown in a clip on the Sky Sports Football Twitter account on Saturday after the game [29 January].

“If you can’t tolerate your side losing, you’re not a football fan, don’t go to games. You’re idiots.

“Just stop it, it’s ridiculous. And we’ve seen several incidents of it today as well.

“We can’t afford to go back to the bad old days, can we? Where things like this happen all the time.”

Pathetic

Some of our fans need to grow up.

Yes, show your anger and yes, protest against the absolutely awful management and ownership of the club.

But ripping up seats and throwing smoke bombs onto the pitch – as well as scuffling with the police after the game – is beneath us.

We get the anger, we really do. But part of being an adult is being able to control that and not make yourself look like a complete and utter idiot.

It drags the name of the club through the mud and for our fans to be the target of Stelling’s rage at Millwall – and not the Millwall fans – says it all.

Ismael needs to go, he really does.

We feel that after this defeat on Saturday, he will be sacked and it’s only a matter of time before an announcement is made by the club.

However, don’t expect a sudden transformation in our fortunes because this squad of players is absolutely nowhere near good enough to be finishing in the top two.

In other West Brom news, this 25-year-old is on the verge of being loaned out by the Baggies despite being in the squad at Millwall.
