Jeff Stelling fears for Valerien Ismael at West Brom after loss v Millwall

Valerien Ismael will have a “sleepless weekend” after West Brom lost 2-0 away at Millwall on Saturday, according to Jeff Stelling.

West Brom’s woeful form continued at The Den as hopes of an instant return to the Premier League took yet another blow with the team now close to dropping out of the Championship play-off spots.

Gillette Soccer Saturday host Stelling feels Albion’s squad does have the quality in it to be performing better and now wouldn’t be surprised if Ismael is sacked in light of the defeat at Millwall.

“You have to fear for Valerien Ismael after this,” said Stelling on Sky Sports News after the loss to Millwall on Saturday [29 January, 05:17pm].

Stelling added: “He’s going to have a sleepless weekend.”

He’s gotta go, Franksy

West Brom have no choice no – Valerien Ismael must be sacked.

Under his management, the team has got worse and worse.

His 100mph identity washed away with a matter of weeks, the goals dried up by the time we hit September, the defensive record is now falling to tatters, senior players are falling out with him and being frozen out and his signings haven’t had anywhere near enough of an impact.

Ismael’s stubbornness, predictability and inability to get a tune out of some of the Championship’s most gifted attacking players is going to cost him his job and further highlights how badly this club is being run under the Chinese ownership.

Guochuan Lai was reported to have blocked a move to hire Chris Wilder as the new manager in the summer after Sam Allardyce left.

Wilder’s now doing a great job at Middlesbrough and there’ll be definitely no chance of a new approach for the ex-Sheffield United boss.

Albion are in a mess and we can only see this getting worse.

In other West Brom news, a 25-year-old who was in the squad at Millwall is set to be loaned out.
