Kevin Phillips: West Brom results not acceptable, Valerien Ismael must try something different
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips has insisted that things are not right in the West Brom camp under Valerien Ismael with results going the wrong way.
The ex-Baggies talisman has urged the Frenchman to change things against Millwall this afternoon, to pick up a much-needed result.
Phillips admitted that a big win would get the Baggies fans back on side, with their boos starting to panic people at The Hawthorns.

“Although at times they keep the ball well, they just don’t look like a threat going forward,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“At the minute, they just haven’t got that consistency. You hear from the reaction, the crowd was half empty before the full-time whistle went [v Preston].
“Things are not well in the camp, in terms of Ismael, he knows he’s under pressure, that’s the nature of the game – It’s testing times for them. For Preston to come to The Hawthorns and win 2-0, it’s unacceptable and they’re going to have to do something about it in the next game.
“He’ll be under pressure, when the whole crowd us booing, it panics people, it’s a tough, tough job – he has to keep believing.
“Ultimately, you’ve got to try and find the way of coming up with something a little different to get the fans back on side.”

Must win.
There are no excuses now, we have seen too many negative results.
It was the tipping point on Wednesday, as Preston strolled into The Hawthorns and left with all three points despite our standing in the table.
Ismael admitted he was bored watching the Baggies, so surely he has to sympathise with the paying fans and could change his system slightly at The New Den.
